When it looked like Ella wouldn’t be able to be in a ballet class (due to them all being full) I wanted to find an activity for her in order to make some friends outside of school. It is important to me that she has her own activities just like her brother has his hockey, or his violin. That being said, I started to notice the gap widen between Ella and her peers and knew that her time in mainstream soccer would be limited. Last year, a little girl in Ella’s class was in Girl Guides. The more I thought about it, the more it seemed like it would be a good fit. It isn’t physically demanding, is low cost and yet gives Ella a group to be a part of where friends can be made and confidence gained so I signed her up. I think it was a good choice. Along with the fact that we have ready access to the cookies, Ella seems to be really enjoying herself and a couple of weeks ago we had the opportunity to visit the Edmonton Corn Maze. We arrived just as the sun was illuminating the tall amber coloured trees and golden corn stalks. As it was later in the season, I have to be honest and say the corn was a little rough looking but that being said, the maze proved quite the challenge. So much so, that we only made it through half of the maze before darkness started to set in. We made it out just in time to jump on their giant jumping pillows.
Sadly, today was the last day it was open, but it is definitely on my radar for next year!
